Autodesk used to have an app called Autosketch that I liked, but it’s discontinued.
Inkscape alternative software#
I don’t mind paying for software (in fact I prefer to), but this is just a hobby, not a profession. The free alternative to Freehand, Illustrator, and CorelDraw goes by the name. Filter by these if you want a narrower list of alternatives or looking for a specific functionality of Inkscape. Inkscape alternatives are mainly Vector Graphic Apps but may also be Digital Painting Tools or Image Editors.
I guess I’m looking for something in between graphic and Fusion 360. Other interesting iPad alternatives to Inkscape are Adobe Illustrator, Affinity Designer, Procreate and Clip Studio Paint. I am doing some work for a non-profit, and I really dislike Inkscape's workflow and interface.
I’ve also started using a program called Graphic on my Mac/Tablet, it’s really easy to use and I can whip up basic designs pretty quick, but it is lacking some more advanced features. I use Affinity Designer at home, which I love. I learned Autocad and Pro/E in school (many years ago), and I’m teaching myself Fusion 360 at the moment. I feel like it’s a bit of a kludge for doing precise design work. But mostly I just really don’t like the interface, I don’t find it intuitive and I struggle to do some of the things that seem to me like they should be basic. Other interesting iPad alternatives to Inkscape are Adobe Illustrator, Affinity Designer, Procreate and Clip Studio Paint. Part of it is that it’s kind of slow and doesn’t integrate well on my Mac. The best iPad alternative is Vectornator, which is free.
